Our Programs

We search the world for hardworking artists or groups of artists yearning for a way to transform their creativity into a better life. We then assess the specific factors holding them back and work with them individually to address those needs.

Building businesses means more than increasing their average daily wage. In places such as Thailand and Bali, much of an artist’s income is based on tourism. When global events like tsunamis, political unrest and even increased airfare keeps tourists away, the market goes with them. Even with a strong tourist season, other factors limit growth: lack of capital to invest in materials and tools, knowledge of market trends abroad, modern technology or business connections.

We encourage artisans to grow their businesses.

We seek talented, ambitious people in opportunity-parched communities and bridge the gap between their
products and thriving markets. We teach the most basic of skills from invoices to emailing and internet usage.

In the United States, we strive to share the beauty of other cultures and a greater understanding of the challenges created by lack of opportunity. These programs are part of our vision for Fair Trade and how it can help the communities we work in.
